The Periodicals Department at the Main Library has extensive retrospective holdings on microfilm for many titles, including the New York Times back to 1851, the Home News & Tribune to 1967, Time to 1938 and National Geographic to 1910. The Department has microfilm reader-printers, including two in digital format. The Department also houses some local area newspapers dating back to the 1920s/1930s and some high school yearbooks. Depository Library Program, we receive free of charge selected items
produced in print, microfiche and electronic (CD-ROM or DVD) format.
Among
the highlights of our collection are Census materials, Congressional hearings,
public laws and regulations, and Supreme Court decisions. In addition to items
in our physical collection, we provide access to many government documents via
the Internet. All federal documents, regardless of format, are listed in the
Library’s online
catalog.
The
Library has also been a depository for New Jersey state documents since 1965,
receiving hearings, budget and financial information, statistics, laws,
committee reports and other materials.
