Mission Statement
The mission of the Woodbridge Department of Health and Human Services is to improve the health and well being of the residents of Woodbridge through health education programs and direct intervention services.
Locations
The Woodbridge Department of Health and Human Services is located within the Woodbridge Public Health Center.
The Health Department consists of 9 divisions. The services and contact information are detailed for each division under the respective individual divisions headings.
Flu Vaccines
The Department of Health and Human Services has Flu vaccines available. Please call the Nursing Division for more information on how you can obtain your flu shot. The telephone number is 732-855-0600, ext. 5011. The flu shot is free for Medicare members and $15 if not a member of Medicare.
Receiving a flu shot is advised for any of the following:
- Adults Over Age 50
- Health Care Providers and Caretakers for High Risk Patients
- Residents of Nursing Homes and Other Institutions Housing Long-Term Care Patients
- Women Who Will Be in the Second or Third Trimester of Pregnancy During Flu Season
- Individuals With Chronic Heart or Lung Problems, Diabetes or Any Condition That Lowers the Body's Resistance
We hope residents will take advantage of this opportunity. Lowering the number of cases of flu this winter is beneficial to the entire community's health.
Fees
Attention: Effective as of June 1, 2006
All Fees for Woodbridge Health Department Clinics Will Increase as Follows:
- STD Clinic $10 Non Residence $25
- CHC Clinic $10
- Immunization $10
- Pap Clinic $15
CEED
The CEED Program is a grant-funded health screening program available to residents of New Jersey who meet State mandated criteria. The program is targeted to those men and women who have no health insurance or whose health insurance does not cover screening, and who meet income guidelines. The screenings include:
- Breast cancer
- Cervical cancer
- Prostate cancer
- Colorectal cancer
Education is provided, both by outreach and during clinic visits, regarding the importance of screening, reducing risk factors, and instruction on various self-examinations. Case management is provided for those individuals whose screenings reveal the need for additional services. The services provided by the Middlesex County CEED program include:
- Education
- Outreach
- Screening*
- Case Management
- Tracking
- Follow-up
- Facilitation into Treatment
Services for women:
- Breast Cancer - Women 40 years and older, unless there is a family history (includes a clinical breast exam by a physician)
- Cervical Cancer - Women 21 years and older (including a Pap test and pelvic exam)
- Colorectal Cancer - Women 45 years and older, unless there is a family history
Services for men:
- Prostate Cancer - Men 45 years and older, unless there is a family history or high risk (includes a blood test and digital rectal exam)
- Colorectal Cancer - Men 45 years and older, unless there is a family history
*The Middlesex County CEED Program follows the American Cancer Society's cancer screening guidelines.
Persons eligible for these services must be at or below 250% of the Federal Poverty Level and be uninsured.
