Mayor’s Summer Concert: On Stage This Week

MAYOR’S SUMMNER CONCERT FINALE:  The Mayor’s Summer Concert Series wraps-up with IAIN MATTHEWS LIPBONE REDDING performing on the Woodbridge Wednesday stage on Wed., Sept. 6 at Parker Press Park at 7:30 PM and Local Band Thursday “rocks” with LOVE REVOLUTION on Thurs., Sept. 7 from Tanzman Park (across from the Downtown Woodbridge Train Station) at 7:30 PM.  The Friday Night Jazz Concert finale performance is on-stage with THE HUNTERTONES on Fri., Sept. 8 at 7:30 PM from Frank G. Pelzman Park (Tappan Street & West Park Ave.) in Avenel.  BONUS MAKE-UP CONCERTS:  SHADOWS OF THE 60's appear on Thursday Sept. 7, THE GLIMMER TWINS (Rolling Stones Tribute) return on Tues., Sept. 12 and THE B STREET BAND (Bruce Springsteen Tribute) takes the stage on Wed., Sept. 13 – all three concerts are “on the lawn” at WHS at 7:30 PMBring a lawn chair and enjoy the FREE concerts with family and friends!!!  The cost of admission to a Mayor’s Summer Concert is a can, or two, or three of non-perishable food for the We Feed Woodbridge Food Bank.  Visit www.twp.woodbridge.nj.us for all of the Woodbridge concert news.

Get Ready... Get Set... Go... Not too late to register for the 22nd Annual “Crossroads of New Jersey" race on Sun., Sept. 3, 2017.  “Crossroads” features a 10K & 5K and Lollipop races for the youngest runners.  "Crossroads" is presented by the Mayor's Wellness Campaign, the Mayor's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports and The Club at Woodbridge. All race events start and finish at Alvin P. Williams Memorial Park in Sewaren.  Registration gets underway at 7:00 AM.  9:00 AM starting gun for the 10K & 5K race(s).  Lollipop races at 10:45 AM.  Registration Open!!!  For all the details go to the Township web page at: www.twp.woodbridge.nj.us.

Interfaith Memorial Service Set for Mon., Sept. 11

The Remembrance Memorial at Woodbridge Town Hall stands as a tribute to the residents who perished in the September 11, 2001 Attack on America.

September 11, 2017 stands as the 16th Anniversary of the “Attack on America.”  On that fateful day in 2001, nine Woodbridge Township residents fell victim... never to return to their families – Cmdr. Patrick S. Dunn, Edward Allegretto, Marlyn Bautista, John Adam Larson, James Lynch, Charles Mauro, Tonyell McDay, Narender Nath, and Saukara Velamuri.
 
On Mon., Sept. 11, 2017, the Office of the Mayor, the Municipal Council, the Woodbridge Interfaith Clergy Council and representatives from the Woodbridge Township Emergency Response community will host: “A Township Remembers: An Interfaith Memorial Service.”  The Interfaith Memorial Service will be held outside Town Hall (One Main Street) at the Township 9/11 Memorial Park at 6:00 P.M.  Plan to attend to recognize the sacrifice of the nine Township residents who perished in the attack and to honor our emergency service providers who respond to crisis - not just in time of disaster, but every day in every way.

The New Jersey Senior Olympics return to Woodbridge on Sept. 8, 9 & 10 when Senior athletes from across the state gather to participate in the annual Senior Olympic games - this is the 11th consecutive year that Woodbridge Township has welcomed the statewide New Jersey Senior Olympic competition.  Last year’s games were tremendously successful with more than 1,200 Senior Olympians from around the state participating in the three-day Olympic competition and we expect the 2017 games will be even more exciting and well-attended.
